Step 15![]() Lift the drive up and lay it flat. |
Step 16![]() This is where the Wii-Bee will be installed. |
ou are now ready to solder your Wii-Bee Chip to the optical drive. The blue square shows where the chip will be soldered to the board. Below is a larger picture of the solder points.
|
Step 17 |
Step 18 |
Below are
close up shots of the spots needed to be soldered on the optical drive.
You are going to use pins number
1, 5, 6, 7, & 8
Cut the supplied wire from your package we sent you into 5 even pieces and solder them to pins, 1, 5, 6, 7, 8. Pin number 1 is the pin that has the small round dot beside it. Match it up to the diagram below.

CAUTION: Due to the heat involved in soldering you must only hold the tip on the pad for a second or two, enough time to allow the solder to flow. If too much heat is applied for to long a period to the contact it may damage the board. If you burn the wire insulation off of the chip wire, trim and re-solder the connection. Removing too much insulation could result in the exposed copper wire touching other traces on the board. This is could be hazardous to the Wii unit.
IMPORTANT: Once all of the wires are attached, visually inspect the board to ensure that none of your retouched solder pads are touching any adjacent traces, that there is no excess solder on the board and all connections are clean and tight. Carefully re-solder any contacts that you suspect may not be making a clean connection. You can now tape the MOD chip up so pins are exposed and tape it on the board in a clear area where it will not be damaged.
After
double-checking all connections, follow the steps again in reverse order
to re-assemble the Wii.
Once you have completely re-assembled the unit, plug in your power
source and video outputs. Power up the Wii. Test the unit FIRST with an
original game. If your system boots successfully with your original disc
then your install is correct and complete! You can now try your backup
copy.
REMEMBER: In many countries it is legal to install and use a Modchip in your personal game console. However... the copying of games is illegal in many (if not all) countries.
